Guidelines such as decarbonization and energy transition are present all
over the world, including Brazil. In the national context, these discussions
involve society, academia, industry and government in search of better
alternatives and solutions to minimize and, when possible, extinguish routines
with harmful impacts on the environment. As an integral part of this network,
the aluminum industry has important representation in the low carbon economy
and has worked on initiatives to promote the circularity of materials,
efficient use of resources, reduction of emissions, among others. In addition
to the sector itself, aluminum can also contribute to the decarbonization of other sectors, mainly related to its
main consumer markets, such as the packaging industry, construction, consumer
goods and transport. Thus, this panel will present the position of the aluminum
industry in Brazil in the face of the global decarbonization scenario and discuss opportunities
for its evolution.
